Lab Technician - Biomedical
Title: Lab Technician (Level 1)
Location:Somerset, NJ - 100% Onsite – Clinical/Biomedical Laboratory
Duration & Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire
Compensation: $25 - $28/hour, comprehensive benefits package
Chamberlain Advisors is currently seeking a Lab Technician for our direct client in the Biomedical and Clinical Research industry. This is a full-time position reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor. The Lab Technician will be responsible for processing patient and research samples, performing analytical testing, supporting lab operations, and ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and regulatory standards.
We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in laboratory practices, including aseptic technique, instrument calibration, and sample testing. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a clinical or healthcare lab, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is eager to contribute to meaningful work that supports patient care and medical innovation.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Clinical/Healthcare Lab Background: Experience working in biomedical, diagnostic, or hospital laboratory settings.
Quality & Regulatory Awareness: Familiar with standards such as CLIA, CAP, FDA, or ISO.
Technical Competence: Skilled in specimen handling, test execution, and maintaining lab equipment.
Detail-Oriented Data Recorder: Consistently accurate in documenting results, maintaining patient confidentiality (HIPAA), and ensuring data integrity.
Collaborative Team Member: Works effectively with lab staff, clinicians, and researchers.
Flexible & Reliable: Comfortable with shift work, weekend rotations, and adapting to changing lab priorities.
Clear Communicator: Able to interpret lab protocols, safety instructions, and communicate findings to team members.
What You Will Be Accountable For
Processing patient or research samples using aseptic techniques to ensure accuracy and safety.
Conducting laboratory tests such as cell counts, viability assays, sterility checks, or other analytical methods.
Calibrating, operating, and maintaining laboratory instruments, while troubleshooting routine equipment issues.
Preparing and documenting sample shipments to reference or contract laboratories.
Maintaining compliance with SOPs, regulatory guidelines (CLIA, FDA, ISO), and biosafety requirements.
Supporting laboratory inventory management, including ordering and monitoring supplies.
Participating in investigations of non-conforming results and contributing to corrective action planning.
Recording and reviewing laboratory data, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA standards.
Assisting in validation, verification, or quality control activities as directed.
Participating in weekend and holiday lab rotations when required.
Performing other duties assigned by laboratory management in support of overall operations.
What Qualifications You Need
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related scientific discipline (preferred).
0–2 years of experience in a clinical, hospital, or biomedical research laboratory.
Experience with aseptic techniques and standard clinical testing procedures.
Strong understanding of laboratory safety and regulatory compliance.
Ability to follow SOPs with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory information systems (LIS) a plus.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds independently and stand for extended work periods.
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or varying shifts when needed.
