Commercial Driver

The Commercial Driver at Mazza Recycling is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of collection vehicles that support waste and recycling services. This role ensures proper handling, transportation, and disposal of materials while maintaining a high level of customer service and operational reliability. Commercial Drivers report directly to the Collection Operations Supervisors and receive daily guidance from the Lead Commercial Driver.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate roll-off trucks and other commercial vehicles in accordance with DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies.
• Perform complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting and reporting any mechanical or safety issues promptly.
• Follow assigned collection routes, schedules, and service instructions as provided by Dispatch and the Lead Commercial Driver.
• Accurately complete all required electronic logs, route sheets, and regulatory paperwork.
• Communicate route issues, delays, or hazards to Dispatch, the Lead Commercial Driver, or Supervisors in real time.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure equipment is secure, safe, and operational at all times.
• Provide courteous and professional service at customer locations.
• Follow proper procedures for loading, transporting, and unloading containers to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Participate in safety meetings, operational trainings, and compliance reviews as required.
• Support fleet readiness by reporting equipment concerns to the Maintenance & Equipment team.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid CDL‑B license with current DOT medical certificate; not prohibited from driving per FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements.
• Clean and safe driving record.
• Previous experience operating commercial vehicles or working in waste/recycling collection preferred.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, meet daily route expectations, and communicate effectively.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift 50+ lbs when needed.
