• Deliver creative and rigorous ELA instruction aligned with state standards for 3rd grade.

• Teach reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and foundational literacy skills.

• Use structured literacy practices and small-group instruction to support diverse learners.

• Develop and implement lesson plans that build students’ confidence and independence as readers and writers.

• Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to ensure mastery.

• Encourage a classroom culture that promotes curiosity, collaboration, and a genuine love for reading.

• Integrate technology and literature-based activities to enhance engagement.

• Collaborate with grade-level teams on curriculum development and instructional planning.

• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

Required:

• Valid New Jersey Standard Teacher Certificate or CE/CEAS/Limited CE in Elementary Education or related field

• Strong knowledge of early literacy instruction and reading development

• Effective classroom management and ability to build warm, supportive relationships

• Excellent communication, planning, and organization skills

• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching practices

• Successful criminal background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency

Preferred:

• Experience teaching ELA in an elementary or charter school setting

• Familiarity with structured literacy or balanced literacy approaches

• Experience designing reading and writing interventions or enrichment materials
