Job Overview:

The Registered Dietician provides optimal nutrition services as an integral part of the healthcare system and within the local community. To strive for continuous improvement of services and customer satisfaction as well as professional growth

Qualifications:

Required:

• B.S. or advanced degree with major studies in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics
• Professional Registered Dietitian RD

Scheduling Requirements:

• Per Diem
• Day Shift

Essential Functions:

• Confers and collaborates with physicians, nursing and ancillary services as related to total patient care.
• Attends patient care conferences.
• Maintains pertinent patient data necessary to recommend or modify therapeutic diets as needed to meet the nutritional and safety needs of patients.
• Coordinates daily patient care assignments to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate nutrition care in an effective manner.
• Demonstrates the ability to identify specific patient education needs.
• Documents all pertinent information in the patient's medical record in a timely manner according to departmental policy.
• Helps plan and implement nutrition projects for the community through services such as speaking engagements, health fairs and classes.
• Instructs patients, families and caretakers on appropriate medical nutritional therapy in a timely manner according to departmental policy.
• Reviews medical records, assesses patient needs and implements appropriate care plans to provide optimal care in a timely manner according to the departmental policy.
• Conducts in-service sessions for hospital personnel when needed.
• Consistently conducts meal rounds on assigned floors to assess patient satisfaction.
• Effectively communicates patient needs with the diet office and follows through to ensure the request has been implemented.
• Supports departmental process improvement initiatives.
