Sushi Chef
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. A minimum of 3 years verified experience as a sushi chef is required. This role involves preparing high-quality sushi dishes, maintaining food safety standards, and delivering an authentic dining experience to our guests.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes with precision and artistry
- Ensure all food preparation adheres to food safety and sanitation standards
- Plan menus that highlight fresh ingredients and innovative sushi options
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
- Assist in inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy hours
- Uphold the restaurant’s quality standards and presentation for all dishes served
- Provide excellent food service by engaging with guests when appropriate
Required:
- A minimum of 3 years of verified experience as a Sushi Chef (sushi, sashimi, fish prep)
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Strong knife skills, knowledge of Japanese cuisine, and proficiency in food handling techniques
- Experience in menu planning, meal preparation, and food presentation
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and proper sanitation practices
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours
- Ability to work independently while maintaining quality standard
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork abilities
- Reliable transportation
- Background in upscale restaurant environments preferred
- Prior dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus but not required
- Experience in catering, food service, or the food industry is advantageous
- Knowledge of Chinese, Spanish is a plus but not required
