Overview
ALRA Engineers, P.C. is a full-service SBE/DBE/MBE engineering firm dedicated to providing consulting services in Construction Management, Construction Inspection, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. The Office Engineer position provides technical and project administration, contract document management, cost tracking, schedule monitoring, and coordination support between the Resident Engineer, inspection staff, contractors, and project stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have experience working on NJDOT, county, municipal, or other public infrastructure projects and possess strong knowledge of construction documentation, contract administration, and project controls.

Responsibilities
- Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for staff and supporting the management team through strong leadership, initiative, and effective communication.
- Supports the Field Management Team with project oversight and coordination.
- Assists in managing change orders per client guidelines.
- Conduct site visits to monitor project progress and identify potential issues
- Compile accurate daily work reports in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with client representatives to ensure project alignment and successful delivery.
- Maintains accurate document control in accordance with client standards.
- Coordinates and tracks project correspondence, including emails, letters, and other project-related communications.
- Coordinates with subcontractors and internal teams to track project milestones.
- Prepares meeting minutes for technical, progress, and other project meetings.
- Qualifications
- Ability to become familiar with contract requirements, site conditions, and special provisions, including all relevant standards, and stipulations.
- Understanding agency and company policies, procedures, and Standard Construction Operating Procedures (SCOPs).
- Strong technical and analytical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple requests.
- Ability to work on a schedule consistent with project-specific construction working hours.
- Valid driver’s license is required
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related degree preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in office engineering preferred.
- 5 years of construction inspection experience in bridge or roadway projects preferred, but not mandatory.
- Project management software experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and construction documentation system. OSHA 30- Hour or 10-Hours Construction Safety is desired. However, training will be provided.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely lift and up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and wind.
- Ability to safely traverse active construction sites, including uneven terrain, excavations, and temporary structures, while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to climb ladders, navigate stairs, and access construction work areas as needed.
- Ability to perform field inspections requiring bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and travel to project sites throughout Central and Southern New Jersey.
- Ability to visually inspect construction work and read plans, specifications, and field documentation.
- Ability to wear and properly use required safety equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and protective footwear.
