Med/Surg RN Job Details – Newark, NY

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Location: Newark, NY 14513 (New York healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical (MS 2 West)
• Start Date: August 24, 2025
• End Date: November 23, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1980-$2030
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Orientation: 18 hours (includes pre-start modules)
• Weekend Coverage: Required
• Floating: May be required to support other units

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active New York Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be in hand at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical/Surgical RN experience
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting system (required)
• Experience in dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, peripheral line care, oxygen delivery systems, and infection control
• Ability to provide care for adult and geriatric patient populations
• Must reside more than 75 miles from Newark, NY facility (travel nursing requirement)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive clinical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using EPIC EHR
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias, respond to rapid response calls, and provide non-invasive airway management
• Administer medications, manage peripheral IV lines, and provide oxygen therapy
• Implement isolation precautions and infection prevention protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to other nursing units as needed to support patient care
