Surety Underwriting Technical Assistant

Job Description:
We are looking for a Surety Bond Underwriter Assistant or Account Manager to provide technical and operational support to commercial surety Underwriters by executing underwriting-related processes, managing documentation, and maintaining data integrity across underwriting systems and platforms. This is a hybrid position out of New Jersey with a 50+ year old company that is engaged primarily in property and casualty insurance, focusing on specialized commercial products for businesses, and in the sale of traditional fixed and fixed-indexed annuities.

Responsibilities:

• Review and validate financial statements, bond applications, questionnaires and underwriting documentation.

• Enter, update and audit account, bond and agency data across underwriting and document management systems.

• Support renewal, mid-term and transactional bond processing within defined authority levels.

• Monitor queues and workflows to ensure timely completion of underwriting tasks.

• Generate reports related to risk evaluations, portfolio status and underwriting activity.

• Coordinate with agents, service centers, accounting and claims teams to resolve data or processing issues.

• Maintain compliance with underwriting guidelines, authority limits and documentation standards.

• Perform additional operational and system-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

• 2+ years experience as a Surety Bond Underwriting Assistant or Surety Account Manager

• Familiarity with financial documents and insurance regulations

• Effective communication and organizational abilities to support collaboration with underwriters and clients

• Undergraduate degree (preferred)

• Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Core Microsoft Programs

• Ability to work in a multi-task environment

• Established record of successfully managing multiple customer accounts

• Associate’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience

Pay Range:
The anticipated pay range for this position is $35 to $40 hourly.

The final pay for this position is determined based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills and certifications, education and training, geographic location, market conditions, and internal equity.
