Software Engineer

Title: Senior Software Engineer

Location: US; remote. Strong preference for someone in the NYC / Philly metro area to facilitate in person work as needed.

Reports to : CTO

As our Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be in a full stack role, with a special emphasis on the connection points between Conserv Cloud and the broader ecosystem. Conserv exists to serve collections around the world with best in class sensors, software, and analytics. We help those charged with preserving the world’s cultural heritage monitor, analyze, and manage their environment.

• Green field and legacy features - Conserv has been serving collections for 7 years now. We have a rich set of features to improve and maintain, and some giant opportunities in front of us to build some brand new things.
• Traditional integration points in and out of Conserv – Our APIs (public and private) along with integrations with third party platforms such as The Things Industries, Twilio, AWS, Weather data providers and others.
• New AI integrations – Help us build out anomaly detection, and some nascent LLM features.
• Global Platform Reliability and Stability - We make strong commitments to our customers about our data reliability and availability

• You are a builder.
• Self-motivated and proactive in a fast-paced and mostly remote environment
• Skills up and down the Typescript / JS stack. Node, React, and that whole ecosystem.
• Data literacy. Know how to map structures to real world problems, and how to model them in scalable systems.
• Comfortable in cloud environments, specifically AWS.
• A strong preference for automation. If you have to do something more than twice, the machines should do it for you. Terraform. Github Actions. Increasingly these days, AI assisted engineering and agentic tools.
• A deep commitment to simplicity. Anybody can build a complicated thing to solve a simple problem. Can you build simple things to solve complicated problems?
• A flexible mindset. Like most small companies moving fast we win by being adaptable to the shifting needs of our customers and market.

Strongly Preferred:

• Experience with IoT applications, especially LoRaWAN.
• Some background building and evaluating ML models
• Keen design sense for visualizing data

• 150k-170k / year, plus Stock Options
