Credentialing Specialist (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Summit, NJ 07901
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (7.5-hour shifts)
Pay Rate: $30–$36/hour

Position Overview

A leading healthcare organization is seeking a detail-oriented Credentialing Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role focuses on verifying healthcare providers’ qualifications—including education, licensure, certifications, and work history—to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.

Note: This is not an insurance-related role .

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce regulatory compliance and quality assurance standards
• Process credentialing applications for initial appointments and reappointments (approx. 125–200 quarterly)
• Verify provider credentials, including education, training, licensure, and experience
• Maintain and update accurate provider data in the Echo credentialing database
• Track license and certification expirations for all providers
• Prepare reports and documentation related to credentialing activities (accreditation, privileges, etc.)
• Ensure all applications meet legal, federal, and state guidelines
• Prepare materials for Credentials Committee, MEC, and Board of Trustees meetings
• Schedule, attend (as needed), and document medical staff meetings
• Maintain confidentiality of all provider information
• Support compliance with medical staff bylaws across locations
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Experience verifying healthcare provider credentials (education, licenses, certifications, work history)
• Working knowledge of the credentialing process required
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to research, analyze, and interpret data
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency with computer systems and databases
• High School Diploma or GED required
