Job Overview:
RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified full-time Respiratory Therapist in Hamilton, NJ. The Respiratory Therapist provides will assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.
Qualifications:
Required:
- AS Degree in Applied Science
- Graduate of AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Program
Preferred:
- ACLS
- Bachelors of Science
Certification and License Required:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC
- Licensed by New Jersey State Board of Respiratory Care
- BLS Certification Required, American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements:
- Day Shift, 40 hours/week (8:30AM – 5 PM)
- Full-Time Schedule
Essential Functions:
- Will perform diagnostic tests, administer therapies, educate patients, and collaborate with the physicians to develop and implement treatment plans
- Perform and interpret various tests, such as pulmonary function tests and 6-minute walk tests to assess lung capacity and oxygen levels
- Provide a range of respiratory therapies, including medication administration e.g.:
- inhalers, nebulizers, methacholine, and oxygen therapy,
- Set up, operate, and maintain respiratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and patient safety
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with safety protocols
- Set up and educate patients on home oxygen and sleep apnea treatment program
- Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care, reporting findings, and recommending treatment adjustments
- Conduct follow-up assessments and equipment compliance checks for patients receiving respiratory care
