FPGA Engineer
Program Overview
About The Role
This position will support the design, development, testing and operational phases of projects
undertaken at PERATON Labs, the research and development arm of PERATON corporation. This position requires the successful candidate to work closely with a diverse team of engineering, scientific and technical staff to develop novel solutions in support of such projects.
The successful candidate will possess the ability to work semi-independently in a small multi-disciplinary team utilizing their experience to analyze, design and implement software systems. Additionally, developing software for embedded devices and modules to power, generate, and receive signals for prototypes and field-deployable systems is a critical component of this job. The ability to read, comprehend and generate professional quality design documentation as well as code is a required capability for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Designing, developing, and testing of FPGA, related software and electronics for experimental and production systems.
- Providing Hands-on work to test software, document and fix bugs.
- Developing and reviewing documentation packages including Use Cases, Data Flow Diagrams, State Machine Diagrams, Sequence Diagrams and Test Plans.
- Developing embedded computing and digital signal processing designs and applications.
- Providing expertise in analyzing FPGA designs and refactoring as needed.
Qualifications
Required Education and Work Experience:
The successful candidate has diversified knowledge of principles and practices in engineering.
A degree in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering is required with the following experience levels:
- BS with 5 or more years of experience.
- MS with 3 or more years of experience.
- PhD with 0 or more years of experience.
- Experience must be with relevant work in a professional setting.
Required Skills/Attributes:
- FPGA development using VHDL.
- Experienced in the development of test “harnesses” for FPGA designs.
- Experienced in generating and reading State Machine, Logic, Flow, and Interconnection Diagrams.
- Experience creating software systems and prototypes for field deployable systems using fully customized designs, or adapter modules to connect to existing equipment.
- Familiarity debugging tools, compilers and code profiling.
- Experience with software version control tools such as GIT or SVN.
- Ability to communicate designs through presentations and be comfortable providing material for review.
- Some experience with C, C++ and related debugging tools like GDB.
- Experience working with analog and digital data acquisition and signal conditioning techniques.
- Proficient in writing technical documentation in MS word and PowerPoint.
- Ability to be onsite five days a week when required.
- Ability to obtain Secret clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship.
Desired Skills/Attributes:
- Experience with electrical or computer engineering design and development.
- Experience with Vivado or other development environments used for FPGA development.
- Experience with Python, and MATLAB + Simulink for automating data collection and analysis.
- Experience with in-depth analysis of software and signals for reverse engineering.
SCA / Union / Intern Rate or Range
Details
Target Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
