Position Summary

The Manager of Accessibility Services provides strategic leadership and oversight to ensure institutional compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504, and related regulations. The Director serves as a campus wide resource and is responsible for delivering comprehensive accessibility services, supervising staff, managing programs and budgets, and advancing inclusive practices that promote equitable access and student success.

Core Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes

1) Accessibility Compliance and Program Oversight

• Ensure compliance with ADA, Section 504, and all applicable regulations
• Develop and continuously improve policies, procedures, and service delivery models

Outcome: Full regulatory compliance and equitable access to all university programs and services

2) Accommodation Determination and Student Support

• Review documentation and determine appropriate academic and housing accommodations
• Support student self-advocacy and coordinate delivery of accommodations

Outcome: Timely, appropriate accommodations that support student persistence, success, and satisfaction

3) Program Leadership (Access Plus & STEP Ahead)

• Oversee planning, implementation, and assessment of specialized support programs
• Manage recruitment, staffing, and program development

Outcome: High-impact programs that improve academic outcomes and retention of students with disabilities

4) Staff Supervision and Development

• Supervise Accessibility Services staff and student employees (e.g., note-takers)
• Provide training, performance management, and professional development

Outcome: High-performing team delivering consistent, student-centered services

5) Testing and Academic Accommodation Operations

• Oversee testing accommodations, note-taking services, and assistive support operations
• Ensure integrity, confidentiality, and compliance in all processes

Outcome: Efficient, compliant delivery of accommodations with strong student and faculty satisfaction

6) Campus Collaboration and Training

• Provide training and consultation to faculty, staff, and departments
• Partner with Facilities and campus units to enhance physical and digital accessibility

Outcome: Increased campus awareness, inclusive practices, and improved accessibility infrastructure

7) Data Management, Assessment, and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records and reporting for institutional, accreditation, and federal requirements
• Use data to evaluate effectiveness and inform program improvements

Outcome: Data-informed decision-making and accurate, compliant reporting (e.g., IPEDS, accreditation)

8) Direct Student Engagement and Advising

• Provide individualized academic coaching, advising, and learning strategy support
• Monitor academic progress and connect students to campus resources

Outcome: Improved academic performance, retention, and student engagement

9) Campus Engagement and Advocacy

• Advise Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society and support disability awareness initiatives
• Represent Accessibility Services at recruitment and university events (may include evenings and weekends)

Outcome: Increased visibility, student engagement, and institutional commitment to inclusion

10) Budget and Operational Management

• Manage departmental and program budgets
• Ensure efficient allocation of resources and fiscal responsibility

Outcome: Effective program delivery within budget guidelines

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Rehabilitation, or related field
• 5–7 years of experience in higher education working with individuals with disabilities
• Strong knowledge of ADA, Section 504, and accessibility best practices
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Experience with adaptive technology and student support systems
• Ability to analyze data and implement program improvements
