  • The Center for PreCollege Programs administers precollege and pipeline programs designed to educate, inspire, and prepare students for success in secondary and post-secondary education while promoting a college-going culture.

Posting Summary Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a PreCollege Instructor for the Center for PreCollege programs. The PreCollege Instructor reports to the Director and Associate Dean for the Center for Precollege Programs.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Create and facilitate academic courses for middle and high school students
  • Provide STEM instruction for grades 6 -12 based on program school and Saturday Academy schedules
  • Collaborate with colleagues on course curriculum to enhance student learning and meet program objectives
  • Plan and provide post-secondary/ college readiness & HS preparation workshops
  • Coordinate dual enrollments classes
  • Supervise college mentors and afternoon tutors
  • Facilitate mentoring activities
  • Other duties as assigned

This position is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding.
FLSA Nonexempt
Salary Details $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Work Arrangement Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Requires up to two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication and interpersonal skills, and computer literacy.
