Mandatory In-Office Position

This role requires working on-site five days a week at our 10-acre campus headquarters in Upper Saddle River, Northern NJ, conveniently located just off Route 17.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on, and enthusiastic Lead Software Engineer to directly manage a critical 12-person team (Backend, Frontend, Mobile, and QA). We need a leader who is ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the code. Your ability to combine deep technical contribution with positive team leadership will ensure a future of progress and success at EarthCam.

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On Technical Leadership & Code Review

• Serve as a hands-on coding leader across our core tech stack, contributing to and debugging code in:
• Backend: PHP using the Laravel framework.
• Frontend: JavaScript using the React framework.
• Mobile: Swift (iOS) and Kotlin (Android).
• Perform rigorous and high-quality code reviews across all platforms, ensuring architectural compliance, performance, and best practices.
• Guide the team in developing and maintaining robust test automation frameworks and complex CI/CD pipelines.

Team Management & EarthCam Culture

• Directly manage a team of 12 developers and QA engineers. Successfully bridge the knowledge and experience gap between long-tenured employees and newer team members, fostering a cohesive and positive environment.
• Coach and mentor engineers with a positive attitude and enthusiasm, providing clear direction, technical guidance, and career growth support.
• Lead project execution within the Agile SDLC, driving technical quality and accountability.

• 5+ years of software development and quality engineering experience, with direct, demonstrable expertise in at least three of the following: Kotlin, Swift, PHP/Laravel, JavaScript/React.
• 2+ years of experience in a formal leadership or management role with direct people management responsibilities.
• Proven history of performing code reviews and setting quality standards across a diverse codebase.
• Reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills.
