Quality Inspector (Weekend Nights)

Preco  is now hiring for a Quality Inspector for their Production Department in Somerset, WI.  
Off shifts are eligible for shift differential pay!

The Quality Inspector ensures that products and processes meet established quality standards and customer specifications. This role involves inspecting materials, components, and finished products through visual, dimensional, and functional testing methods to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.  This position is hourly and will work production shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on parts, welds, and assemblies according to blueprints, specifications, and inspection plans.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, pull testers, Micro-Vu vision systems, and CMMs (coordinate measuring machines).
  • Verify weld quality using visual inspection techniques and nondestructive testing (NDT) methods as required (e.g., dye penetrant, magnetic particle, or ultrasonic) to identify defects such as cracks, porosity, undercut, and incomplete fusion.
  • Record and maintain inspection data, nonconformance reports (NCRs), and quality documentation in accordance with company procedures.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) efforts.
  • Assist with or perform Gage R&R studies.
  • Initiate any needed documentation updates.
  • Assist with data collection for PPAP or validation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 13485, ASME, or other applicable quality management system standards.
  • Support calibration, audit, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, productivity, and reduce rework.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisor.


Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to actively engage team members to achieve shared goals.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools and inspection equipment.
  • Experience with weld inspection or AWS/ASME standards a plus.
  • Basic computer skills; experience with ERP or quality management systems preferred.
  • Attention to detail with strong problem-solving and follow up skills.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to multitask, independently prioritize activities, and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of AWS, ASME, or ISO quality standards.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as dye penetrant, magnetic particle, or ultrasonic testing.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & tolerancing)
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
