Job Overview:

Processes, performs, and results medical diagnostic testing on body fluids by automated and manual methods in a timely manner under the supervision of senior technologists.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology and /or related science, chemical, physical or biological science from an accredited institution or military service equivalent
• Minimum 6 month of clinical laboratory experience or equivalent experience
• ASCP Certification for MLS/MT or eligible within 8 months of employment
• Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques

Preferred :

• One-year working experience

Scheduling Requirements:

• Per Diem
• Evening shift
• Weekend and Holiday rotation

Essential Functions:

• Assists in the training of new employees and students
• Works on special projects as requested by the Director
• Segregates laboratory wastes according to established policies
• Verifies orders from scripts and orders procedures in HIS and LIS
• Maintains, troubleshoots and repairs instruments and lab equipment if possible
• Maintains all necessary QC, QA and repair records required by accreditation agencies
• Produces medical diagnostic test results in an efficient and cost-effective manner for stat and routine specimens
• Applies the knowledge and skills necessary to assess data reflective of each patient's status and provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric
• Assists in clerical duties as needed
