Pay: $30-$45 an hour

Job Description

Perform advanced mechanical work on heavy-duty diesel equipment and construction fleet vehicles, including engine repairs, hydraulic system service, electrical diagnostics, and preventative maintenance. Responsible for identifying issues, planning repairs, ordering parts, and ensuring all equipment is safe, reliable, and job-ready.

Responsibilities

• Conduct advanced mechanical repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, DEF systems, and drivetrains.
• Perform expert-level diagnostics and troubleshooting on diesel equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance and repairs are conducted according to service manuals and schematics.
• Order necessary parts and manage repair documentation accurately.
• Collaborate with operators, project managers, and field teams to maintain equipment uptime and reliability.
• Conduct welding and fabrication work as needed.

Essential Skills

• Expert-level diesel diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Ability to repair engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
• Experience with heavy construction equipment like excavators, loaders, skid steers, and dump trucks.
• Strong understanding of service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred.
• CDL or willingness to obtain is a plus.
• ASE or manufacturer certifications are a bonus.
• Strong safety habits and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to manage time and document repairs accurately.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocean, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
