Job Description
About the Role
We're seeking a skilled Survey CAD Technician to support a multi-disciplinary engineering and surveying team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, detail-driven environment and is passionate about producing high-quality survey deliverables that support both municipal infrastructure and private development projects.
In this role, you'll work closely with licensed land surveyors, engineers, and project managers to transform field-collected data into clean, accurate CAD base maps, plats, and survey drawings. Your work will directly support boundary surveys, topographic mapping, ALTA/NSPS surveys, easement exhibits, construction stakeout plans, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft detailed survey maps and plats using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Interpret field data collected by survey crews (total stations, GPS, digital levels, etc.)
- Prepare base mapping for engineering design projects
- Process raw field data, apply linework codes, and create surfaces and contours
- Collaborate with surveyors and engineers to resolve discrepancies or clarify field conditions
- Maintain drawing standards and organize CAD files in accordance with project requirements
- Assist with QA/QC of survey deliverables before final submittal
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in land surveying CAD drafting
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (including surfaces, alignments, and point management)
- Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS survey procedures
- Experience processing survey data using Trimble Business Center, Leica Infinity, or similar
- Familiarity with municipal, DOT, or public-sector project standards a plus
- Ability to read and interpret deeds, plats, and engineering plans
- Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
Education & Licensing
- Associate degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred)
- LSIT or CST certification is a plus but not required
Why This Role?
- Work on meaningful, community-impacting infrastructure projects
- Exposure to a wide variety of project types, from small utility upgrades to multi-phase municipal roadway improvements
- Stable, growing team with a strong reputation for quality work and client service
- Opportunity to grow into project coordination or Survey Project Manager roles over time
