The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
To provide a key therapeutic role in the evaluation of children between the ages of 10 months to 22 years for appropriate adaptive equipment. Must have the clinical knowledge necessary to assure the appropriate selection and fitting of adaptive equipment to best meet the client’s needs.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy as dictated by profession
- New Jersey Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy license as dictated by profession
- American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification
- Assistive Technology Practitioner Certification
- Minimum 3 years in clinical services recommending adaptive equipment in specialized areas such as manual and powered mobility, custom seating and adaptive equipment, pressure mapping and custom molded seating systems
- Sound background in the application of adaptive equipment
- Ability to deal effectively with patients and their families
- Ability to work cooperatively with professionals in medical, research and educational settings
- Excellent organizational skills to function in a very dynamic environment
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- New Jersey Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy license
- American Heart Association BLS Provider Certification
- Assistive Technology Practitioner Certification
- American Occupational Therapy Certification Board registration and NBCOT registration if Occupational Therapist
Scheduling Requirements:
- Part Time
- 30 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- To provide clinical expertise in the seating and positioning of clients striking an appropriate balance between function, comfort, and posture that best meets a specific client’s needs
- To participate as a team member working closely with the family, multiple supplier and manufacturer representatives in the determination of the specific equipment needed to meet the seating and positioning needs of the client
- Complete a thorough evaluation, letter of medical necessity and other required paperwork in a timely manner
- Follow up and respond to client’s equipment needs, phone calls, emails etc.
- Communicate with outside therapists, school team, home therapists
- Arrange for demo equipment as needed
- Manage tracking of equipment procurement throughout the process, report completion, submission to supplier, scheduling of delivery, etc,.
- Complete one insurance appeal as needed
- Provide training for the clients caregivers in appropriate positioning strategies and techniques and the use of recommended equipment
- Participate in seminars, workshops and other educational activities sponsored by the Department and other appropriate sources
- Maintain clinical knowledge in seating and positioning keeping abreast of new technologies as they arise by attending conferences, workshops, etc., focusing on this area
- Meet annual expected volumes
- Other duties as assigned
