VP OF PURCHASING

Reports to: COO Department: Purchasing
Position Summary: The VP of Purchasing is responsible for planning, directing and controlling activities related to the procurement of paper, dry, refrigerated and frozen food products by performing the following duties. The position of VP of Purchasing is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act and shall not be entitled to overtime compensation for hours worked more than 40 in any one work week. The VP of Purchasing shall be accountable and supervised by the COO. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.- Provides strategic leadership for the end-to-end procurement function across all inventory categories, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and financial targets.
- Oversees inventory management for both internal and external storage locations, driving operational efficiency and cost optimization.
- Champions and enforces ethical purchasing practices, setting policy standards that ensure compliance and integrity across all sourcing activities.
- Develops and manages the annual procurement budget, aligning resource planning with company growth and operational strategies.
- Leads high-value contract negotiations, securing advantageous terms and fostering long-term strategic supplier partnerships.
- Partners with finance and sales leadership to influence pricing strategies and optimize gross margin performance.
- Builds and nurtures executive-level relationships with key vendors; proactively addresses concerns and drives supplier accountability.
- Directs the evaluation, onboarding, and performance management of suppliers through a robust vendor rating system to ensure continuous improvement and strategic alignment.
- Oversees resolution of procurement-related grievances and discrepancies, ensuring swift and effective issue management.
- Establishes and monitors quality control standards for all inbound goods, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enforce product excellence.
- Maintains executive-level awareness of market dynamics and industry trends through strategic networking and engagement with trade organizations.
- Provides executive oversight for marketing procurement initiatives and supports cross-departmental collaboration on major campaigns.
- Leads the strategic assessment and integration of new product lines, ensuring alignment with brand and market strategy.
- Drives initiatives to reduce obsolete inventory and streamline vendor portfolios, improving working capital and operational agility.
- Takes on enterprise-level initiatives and special projects as assigned by the executive leadership team.

- Organizational Leadership - Adept at designing and optimizing organizational structures, improving cross-functional collaboration, and aligning teams toward strategic goals.
- Operational & Supply Chain Planning - Proficient in end-to-end planning, including demand forecasting, material requirements planning (MRP), and procurement strategy.
- Procurement & Vendor Management - Extensive experience in strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation to enhance value and reduce risk.
- Project & Time Management - Strong leadership in prioritizing initiatives, meeting deadlines, and delivering results in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Manages the entire Purchasing Department.
- Office-based setting.

- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of food service purchasing experience.
