Location: 201 ROUTE 17 N, Rutherford, NJ
Schedule: Primarily evenings and weekends; preferred shift 12:00 PM–8:00 PM (including Sundays and holidays as needed) Allmed Benefits: Vision Insurance, Health Insurance, Dental Insurance and 401(k)
Pay Rate: $20/hr (Paid Weekly)
Contract: 02/20/2026 to 08/20/2026
Position Summary
The Patient Care Coordinator serves as the primary customer service representative for the office and is responsible for creating a welcoming and professional environment for patients and visitors. This role ensures accurate insurance verification to support reimbursement processes and facilitates smooth daily operations through appointment scheduling, patient communication, and administrative support.
Team Environment
The Patient Care Coordinator will join a diverse team of approximately 40 staff members. The organization fosters a collaborative, inclusive, and team-oriented culture, reflecting a true “melting pot” of backgrounds and experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Interaction
Greet patients and visitors warmly, creating a positive first impression
Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route calls appropriately
Appointment Management
Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments
Manage provider calendars to ensure efficient utilization of time slots
Administrative Duties
Maintain and update patient records
Process patient intake documentation
Verify active insurance coverage to ensure reimbursement eligibility
Assist with billing processes and insurance claims
Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information
Communication & Coordination
Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers
Ensure clear communication regarding appointments and patient needs
Maintain open communication with physicians and office staff
Customer Service Excellence
Address patient concerns professionally and efficiently
Monitor and manage wait times
Ensure a comfortable and organized reception environment
Required Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting
Experience providing customer service in a medical office environment
Familiarity with EMR systems, preferably EPIC
Ability to work evenings, weekends, Sundays, and holidays as required
Strong multitasking and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Strong problem-solving abilities
Demonstrated patience and professionalism in high-volume settings
Proven team-player mindset
Licensure & Certification
No professional license or certification required
Dress Code
Uniform polo (Navy blue) with black or khaki pants
