Job Summary:
As a Principal Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase in the Chief Technology Office for the Enterprise Observability Technology team, you will be responsible for the design and delivery of observability tools for public cloud platforms. You’ll partner with teams to create cohesive solutions, manage other engineers, and ensure our products meet the highest standards. Job Responsibilities:
- Create well engineered observability solutions for the public cloud will require the successful candidate to develop their knowledge of the major public cloud platforms, initially Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Understand our primary customers of Site Reliability Engineers and other engineers within the firm to help you design solutions that meet the needs of this community.
- Advise cross-functional teams on technological matters within your domain of expertise
- Partner with other teams to build integrated solutions that are cohesive and give a great joined up experience to our customers
- Lead the production of architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Serve as the function’s go-to subject matter expert
- Mentor other engineers in software engineering practices and encouraging discipline and good code hygiene in the team
- Influence leaders and senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams
- Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- The candidate will have a good all-round understanding of public cloud fundamentals such as compute, networking, storage, security policies and how to build & deploy applications into the eco-system gained on AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts
- Significant hands-on experience leading system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
- Experience leading a team where there is a focus on quality in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including peer review, testing, and automated deployment into a cloud environment
- Highly proficient in coding in one or more languages, either Go or Java
- Ability to present and effectively communicate with Senior Leaders and Executives
- Understanding of the business in which they have operated
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging stakeholders and customers
- Enjoy presenting technical designs and approaches to engineering audiences
- Strong commitment to continuous learning and exploring new technologies across the teams they have led
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform fundamentals including compute, networking, storage, and security policies and services for monitoring, auditing, tracing, and access management
- Exposure to cloud automation technologies such as Terraform
- Proficiency in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting containerized applications using Kubernetes
- Experience with observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, and Grafana
- Understanding and experience with Open Telemetry (OTel) standards and tools
- Ability to build secure applications and remediate vulnerabilities using modern techniques
