This role offers an engaging opportunity for a licensed pharmacist to support medication management within a long-term care mail order environment. The position requires meticulous attention to patient safety, regulatory compliance, and collaborative healthcare delivery. Scheduled for days, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with possible weekend shifts, this 8-week contract is ideal for pharmacists with a strong background in long-term care pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accepting and accurately dispensing prescription medications.
- Monitoring patient medication compliance and detecting potential overuse.
- Ensuring all medicinal supplies meet legal requirements.
- Verifying that prescribed medications are appropriate for each patient.
- Maintaining confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy files.
- Advising patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and responding to questions.
- Providing counseling on both prescription and non-prescription medication storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
- Delivering additional patient services, including smoking cessation support, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
- Educating patients on the proper use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions following established protocols.
- Supervising pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks.
- Maintaining adequate inventory levels of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Collaborating effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to address drug-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of New Jersey.
- Pharmacy experience required; long-term care experience highly desirable.
- Familiarity with New Jersey pharmacy regulations.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
- Possible weekend shifts
Contract Duration:
- 8 weeks
